Gertrude Ziminsky was one of the most important buyers for B. Altman and Company during the postwar years.
She was a friend of Giovanni Giorgini. As the appointed buyer for B. Altman & Co., in 1951 she attended the First Italian High Fashion Show organized by Giorgini at Villa Torrigiani in Florence.
Thanks to her role as a mediator between Italian fashion designers and B. Altman & Co., Zeminsky played an important role in making Italian fashion known and popular in the United States.
